School-Based Health Centers

School-based health centers are partnerships between schools and community health organizations. They offer various services, including primary care, mental health, and oral health services. The care provided in SBHCs complements existing school health services and aims to improve health outcomes and health literacy for students, school staff, and the community. This contributes to positive education outcomes such as reduced absenteeism, decreased disciplinary actions and suspensions, and improved graduation rates. SBHCs advocate for the needs of children, youth, and families, particularly those with low incomes, and provide them with a safe haven.
